Meet and Greet – arrival day

Berg-en-Dal (restcamp/south western Kruger)
(3 NIGHTS)

Our vehicle
Accommodation is a private en-suite one-bedroomed unit under thatch (includes fresh linen and towels plus fridge freezer) that sleeps two people close to the camp's perimeter fence where animals are often seen walking in the dry river to bed towards the dam.

Berg-en-Dal means 'mountain and dale' aptly named for its superb location. Great care has been taken to preserve the natural vegetation in the camp area, which comprises Malelane Mountain Bushveld (woodland), attracting a variety of grazers. The area hosts white rhino, kudu, impala, giraffe, elephant, reedbuck, klipspringer, grey rhebok and warthog. Leopard and wild dog are regularly seen in the region. Bird watchers will find the appeal of Berg-en-Dal restcamp irresistible as a wide variety of birds species can be seen here.
The camp also has a swimming pool for cooling off in the heat of the day.

Biyamiti Private Bushveld Lodge (private bushveld lodge/southern Kruger)

(3 NIGHTS)
Nestled on the banks of the Biyamiti river, this private bushveld lodge plays host to some of the biggest buffalo herds in the Kruger. Elephants, lion and leopard are frequent visitors to the water pools in front of the lodge, as well as rhino (both white and black rhino) and hyena. Our game drives meander in and out of the river system, up and down rolling hills, and through the mixed thornveld and riverine areas of the Crocodile River.

Accommodation at Biyamiti consists of a one-bedroomed en-suite cottage that sleeps two people, which is fully serviced (fresh linen and towels) under beautiful thatched roofs and very comfortable. In both locations Neil and his chef will stay close by and host hospitality and mealtimes from their cottage.

GENERAL INFO YOU CAN USE FOR BOTH ITINERARIES:
Typical Safari Days

You are privately guided in an open-sided game viewing vehicle (the vehicle in the picture in this mail), your game drives are exceptional in that your guide is able to interpret the behaviour, the ecology and relationships of and between all the animals, vegetation and landscapes you see during your game drives with him. His accreditations and qualifications as a field guide and trails ranger are exemplary, and coupled with 15 years of experience in the Kruger make your time with him a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Big 5 sightings of elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and African buffalo are just as rewarding as all the aspects of being in the African bush in amongst the 148 mammal species, over 500 birds, 350 tree species and a huge diversity of landscapes and eco-zones. It’s our ability to interpret this amazing diversity of wildlife, of cultural and historical influences, as well as unravel the ecological secrets and mysteries that make Africa so special that makes us leaders in private guiding in the Kruger National Park.

Kruger nights are wonderful - the southern skies play host to the nocturnal calls of hyenas, jackals, baboons and lion all while you enjoy once-in-a-lifetime moments in the African bush. Two game drives every day - no schedule for the length or diversity of the game drives except your needs, and what the bush delivers.

Meals on your full service safari
Neil is accompanied by his hospitality chef on safari who spends his day preparing your meals, ensuring that all beverages, table settings and mood fires are lit, cooked and ready to present the other important part of a successful safari – your meals. Together they make an exceptional team providing guiding and hospitality service that is unmatched in South Africa.

Meals include:
An early morning snack (before your first game drive)
A full English breakfast (after your first game drive)
Dinner – mostly cooked outdoors, over an open fire (chicken, meat, fresh veggies and salad, pasta, rice and potatoes)

(All local beer, South African wine, bottled water and fresh juice is provided and included in your quoted price on this full service itinerary.)

Game viewing is almost always dependent on what’s happening in the bush.
A pride of lions on a kill, or watching buffalo interaction, or elephants, even simply exploring the diversity of this great wildlife reserve, means that we are well aware that mealtimes must be dynamic. So we always keep snacks and cold drinks on board in the vehicle, just in case.
